Weekend Update...

Friday. I had a productive morning of cleaning the house while Alex was at preschool. In December our dear old vaccuum went on the fritz so we ended up getting a new one. It's nothing fancy, but it does have a hepa filter and is bagless which I love. Anyway, since getting this vaccuum I have actually enjoyed doing the floors just so I can empty the container that catches all the dust/dirt/etc. Crazy but true. It's just amazing how much dust and whatnot accumulates in the recesses of carpet. I guess that illustrates in an odd way that I'm a results oriented person...my results being the crud I vaccuum up! Just say it...oh brother!

Saturday. We dropped the boys off for the morning/afternoon to stay with A.J.'s parents while we drove down to Waco. We were asked by our adoption agency's director to speak at another orientation meeting for prospective adoptive parents regarding our adoption experience and, more specifically, on our relationship with our birthmom (whom, along with her family, we dearly love). This is the second time we've been asked, and each time has been a lot of fun. When we got around to speaking about how quickly our birthmom chose us there was an audible murmur from the group followed by a good-natured "disclaimer" from the director saying they could not guarantee identical results. After seeing the difference in the number of people attending the two meetings we spoke at versus the number of people at our own meeting (all of 4), I realize how we really came in to our adoption agency just before they were about to explode. It's amazing how things change in the course of two short years.

Sunday. Church. We actually, all four of us, made it. It's been about three weeks since Ayson has been in church. A.J. and I alternated attending with Alex the past two weeks though. Let it be stated here and now though that when we brought Ayson to nursery this morning, he had no sign of a cold at all, no runny poop, nothing. So if he turns up sick in the next couple of days...I'm just saying...

This evening we headed over to Mellow Mushroom to meet up with some friends and all of our kids to celebrate Malinda's birthday. It was fun hanging out together for a little while. Ayson was a bit of a toot. He'd put pizza in his mouth, chew for a bit and then spit every single piece out. Then he had quite a few minutes where he displayed his talent for hitting himself on the head. Silly boy. He was quite ready for bed by the time we got home (which was only about 6:45) though, so I'm sure that was some of the problem. Alex for his part ate like a little champ and overall was a pretty good little boy! Anyway, I hope Malinda had a great birthday dinner - we sure enjoyed it!
