This Old House...

Our sweet abode is a 1970's rancher. There is list of DIY projects that continues to grow in my head...big projects that require big money, and then the little projects like painting a room, trim, etc. Some of the improvements are to the house itself, others to the furniture within. Sometimes it's fun, other times I just wish I had it all done and the way I want it...now!

While my parents were here they helped me with a small project that ended up yielding some nice results on otherwise inexpensive furniture. We simply re-covered six of our dining room chairs. The best part was that the entire project cost me $6.00.  Now I can bear to keep this table and chairs around a few more years until I get A.J. to make me my farmhouse table (but that will have to be after he helps with the boys bathroom project which won't happen until after his election. Sigh.)!

My mom is a pro at projects like this. And both of my parents are near perfectionists at the work they do so I ended up with something that looked better than the original when it was brand new. I wish I had thought to take a "before" picture so you could see that the word "amazing" to describe the results is no overstatement. :)
Newly covered seat cushions...it's a good thing!
Thank you Mom & Dad!

They look great!!! How in the world did you find that much fabric for $6?

It's actually a really nice weight large size holiday table cloth I found on clearance. And there was enough left over if I need to recover any again or do anything else decorative with it I can!

So clever. I would never have thought to use a tablecloth.
