Derby Time...

It's almost a rite of passage, the Pinewood Derby. I don't know how many men, young and old, I've encountered who can quickly recall when they were in their own Pinewood Derby.
Showing off their "drivers license."

Alex just finished his third Pinewood Derby with a cool orange car that had an eagle decal on it. This time around, A.J. made Ayson a car to race in the sibling race since he's still too young for scouts. Alex's car, unfortunately, didn't make it past the first round, but he still has two previous years of trophies and ribbons to stare dreamily at on a shelf in his bedroom. Ayson didn't win anything, but he did come in second place. He was just pumped to be able to race. Both boys still ended up having a great time.
Looking down the derby track...
Alex's cool orange car. A.J. and he thought they had a really good design this year, but it just wasn't meant to be.

This will actually be Alex's last event in scouts. He has now joined Trail Life USA which is a new organization for boys (all the way up in to college). It has a stronger emphasis on our boys' spiritual life, as well as character-building. In addition, they have a good focus on all things outdoors. Another good thing is that Ayson can be in it as well. So we're excited to see this group take off. :)
