For the past several months I've been making a concerted effort when I purchase snack foods for the boys, to purchase those that are dye free. It's not as easy as you might think - there just aren't a lot of options to choose from. A big one for us is fruit snacks. If I stay local I've been able to find only Annie's fruit snacks or Florida's Natural Fruit Nuggets that don't have food dyes. Of course we always have lots of fresh fruits and vegetables on hand as well, but Ayson in particular has a penchant for those gummy fruit snacks!
I brought home a box of popsicles the other day that had natural fruit and vegetable dyes - good stuff I thought - until I saw Ayson post-purple/grape popsicle...it was like a scene out of Twilight. They must have used beet juice to color the popsicle! :)
It's time to break out the popsicle molds and make them the real all natural way - homemade! Check out this recipe! Yum!

Wow, that looks like paint! Was he still stained after you washed his hands?
Fortunately the stain was very temporary and washed off with plain soap and water - and after only one wash!
JM loves those fruit snacks, too. HEB has a new take on it - fruit twist sticks (kind of like licorice) that are right next to the Annie's snacks. JM gobbled them right up today! Love that dye on the hands - good thing he was doing the shirtless boy thing!!!
