Waiting At The ENT...

Tuesday we took Ayson to the ENT for a hearing test and also to look at his overall ear/nose/throat area.  It was our second visit to determine whether or not there is anything physically that may be contributing to his speech issues.  The hearing test checked out fine.  Then his adnoids, tonsils and ears were checked again.  Last time we went Ayson had just come down with a mild cold which inhibited the doctor from being able to accurately diagnose since everything seemed to be swollen or filled with fluid.  When he checked this time around the tonsils and adnoids were still large; and though it was not to the extent that it was before, his ears did still have fluid in them.  The doctors recommendation was that he get tubes in his ears and have his tonsils and adnoids removed.  The good side is that it's not an emergency so we don't need to have it done immediately.  But for improved speech and breathing (aka quality of life) it's something we'll be looking forward to in the new year.  You know one crazy thing? To have the tubes and the tonsils/adnoids removed takes only about 20 minutes, and the doctor said he'd be back home within about an hour! That blew me away!
When you're three years old even 5 minutes is a long wait for the doctor!

Ayson was in and out of this seat at least a dozen times before the doctor arrived.

For the record, Ace was a very good and cooperative little patient!
We also had his weight and height checked again: he's up exactly one inch in height from his check up three months ago, to 38".  And is almost exactly one pound up in weight to 32.6#.  Growing steady! :)
