Kids Say the Darnedest Things...

Our church's family Bible study called "The Scrolls."

This evening after dinner A.J. pulled out our church Bible study. The boys really get a charge out of being able to be the first to remember the memory verse for the week or the core competency, etc. A.J. will ask a question and then their hands shoot up wildly as though they're in the classroom at school or something. This week we're going over the story of Abraham and Isaac and how Abraham was to take Isaac up a mountain to be sacrificed. He was obedient and trusted God's plan. Isaac asked his dad where the lamb to be sacrificed was and was told that God would provide the lamb (in more ways than one it turns out!). And then what happens is that, in what feels like the nick of time, a ram is found entangled in a thicket and is in turn sacrificed in the place of Isaac. It's a great story. Typically when question time rolls around Ayson will raise his hand enthusiastically even if he doesn't know the answer. His go to answer is generally "God" - I guess he thinks he at least has some chance of being right. Tonight one of the questions A.J. asked was, "Where did the ram come from?" Ayson raised his hand, and since Alex had answered the majority of the questions up to that point, A.J. let Ayson have a go. "Okay Ayson, do you think you know the answer?" -"Yes." says a confident Ayson - and then he proceeds to tell us that the ram came from the zoo! He wasn't trying to be funny, but we couldn't help but chuckle at his guess. He's coming along though and does really well with memory work! Baby steps...baby steps! :) I love my kids!
