This year it was our intent to send Alex to Pine Cove Base Camp at our church (Pantego Bible Church) in Fort Worth. It's a great Christian day camp that our church has hosted for many years. I was really disappointed to see that this year (naturally!) they were not going to be hosting it. I was so disappointed. Instead they were offering a five day overnight camp at Carolina Creek. We perused their web site and it did look like a lot of fun, but an overnight camp for that many days was too much for this mom to contemplate. He would be out of my control (there, I said it!) for almost five full days!!
This Saturday in between the boys golf lessons, I received a text from Alex's best friend's mom. She was asking if we'd be open to the boys going to a camp together. She didn't know of any good camps and was asking, if we were amenable to the idea, if we knew of any. Was Carolina Creek "meant to be" afterall? So I bit the bullet and sent her the information on our church's camp. I didn't know how they would take to the idea of it being a christian camp since I know some people are sensitive about things like that, but an hour later we got a phone call from them saying, "Let's do it!" They were super psyched about it. We were thrilled because we know both boys will have an amazing time and will be extremely well-cared for. And I know my sweet boy will have his best bud with him. I still have the momma jitters - Alex has never been away from us for that long - but it will be a wonderful experience for him and a growing one for us! :)
I've got seven weeks to mentally prepare myself for the send off at our church - I'm going to need to keep myself busy that week!! :)

We'll have to get Cason and Ayson together that week to keep you busy and keep your mind off of it. I'm sure we can come up with some fun things to do!
