Practice...

For a couple of months now, Ayson has been really interested in drawing on plain white paper - more particularly, he would ask how to correctly hold a pencil or pen and then he would start scribbling away.  It was interesting to me that he even thought of that, as Alex just held a pencil any way he wanted.  It never even occurred to him that there might be a right way to hold a pencil until we taught him.  Ayson has now gotten the pencil grip down and is now asking us how to write his name.  While outside playing with sidewalk chalk on the driveway he can dictate the spelling of his name while I jot it out, so he has that down.  What he is wanting to know is the actual letter formation.  We've been spending a few minutes working on it whenever he asks and I can see some vague letter resemblance beginning to take place.  The letter "O" of course is the easiest one, but he is working really hard at making the letter "A" also.  This is a fun part of parenting - watching the journey of discovery, and getting to help in the process.  :)
