Drill Baby Drill...

Living where we do, it's a normal every day occurrence seeing gas wells dotting the landscape around us - thanks to the Barnett Shale.  We have a number of them within just a mile of us.  The gas well pad site closest is a short 1/2 mile, sitting in the middle of a large field; and they are now beginning the fracking process on well number 3 or 4 on that site.  If you ask Alex & Ace, one of the best things about gas wells is when the fracking starts.  The giant metal water pipes are lined up almost a mile long across our neighborhood and golf course property line and head directly to the well.  These pipes are built-in entertainment for the few weeks that they are here.  They're fun to walk/balance across, you can use them to hide between when you're playing a serious game of spies, and best of all (in my opinion) they keep pesky golf carts out of our yard!
Monday afternoon the boys excitedly ran out on to the deck to watch the gas well workers (see above) lay out the giant pipes across our yard (three pipes deep).  It took them all of 5-10 minutes to make it across the length of our yard! When the men were done, the boys and one of their friends ran down the yard to where the pipes were and the fun began.  Life in Texas. :)
