Monday afternoon, after picking the boys up from school, we headed to the Colonial for their annual Nike Kids Golf Clinic. It's a really fun event for kids, with the highlight being able to get up close with a couple of the golf pros to get their tips on all things golf. Upon arriving kids are given raffle tickets, "swag" bags with lots of goodies, golf balls, Nike ball caps - it's pretty insane. Then everyone makes their way over for the Chicken Express, Vitamin Water, Smart Water, and then moves to find a spot to settle in. Radio Disney is there, typically along with one of the Disney XD tv "stars." They play some goofy fun games with at least one that seems to involve parent humiliation, but the kids eat it up.
This year, like last year, when the raffle tickets were drawn for various prizes, the boys numbers weren't called. That is until the very last drawing. The DJ drew a raffle ticket, but nobody claimed the big prize. So he drew another one, and read Ayson's number. A.J. told him he had won. He was momentarily stunned but then before we knew what was going on he had bolted for the green where the DJ and Colonial representative were standing with his prize - a brand new set of Nike junior graphite clubs. It was hilarious, but super exciting for him! We were really proud of Alex for being a really good sport and not going in to a funk because of Ayson's good fortune. Don't feel too horrible for Alex - he got a full set of graphite clubs two months ago! :) Unfortunately, a storm was very rapidly blowing in and they were wrapping up the activities much earlier than planned so everyone could safely make it back to their cars.

So, next year when the Colonial rolls around, you need to bring the kidlets to the Nike Golf Clinic. We'll be there again. It's a lot of fun, goodies galore, and your kiddo might even win a cool prize! Oh, and did I mention it's free? It doesn't get better than that! :)
