Clean Fun...

I found an awesome, quick activity to do with the boys - part craft, part experiment - the "experiment" part being essential for my two yahoos.  I found it here, a blog I happened upon the other day and really like.  Anyhoo, it involves a bar of Ivory soap.  We placed a sheet of parchment paper in our microwave oven, placed the soap on the paper, set the microwave for 3 minutes (for us it was more like 2-1/2 minutes) and watched as it grew and ended up like this...
After a lot of oooh-ing and aahh-ing, I put the soap mountain in a bowl for the boys to break up in to bits.  I added a touch of water and mixed it until it was a sort of moldable consistency...
Finally, we pulled out some Play Doh molds for the boys to use to re-make their own soaps, then set them on a pan to dry/harden overnight...
Poor lighting in that photo, but you get the idea.  They're actually pretty cute! And it had a pretty high entertainment value for my two munchkins.

Now I need to find about 30 more fun ideas like this to get us through the rest of the summer! :)
