The Dentist...

Ayson, poor guy, got his very first filling last Tuesday.  I was relieved to hear from the dentist that it was not because of poor dental hygiene, rather because his back molar for some reason did not have enamel covering all of it, leaving it vulnerable to cavities.  He was a little champ and did a great job.  I have to hand it to the dental staff for being so amazing with my kidlet.

He left the office with a bag full of assorted goodies for his good behavior, and a warning to be careful not to chew on his cheek.  That afternoon when I picked him up from school he looked like he had a chipmunk cheek.  It was all swollen.  We gave him motrin and reminded him to try to eat on the other side of his mouth   so his sore cheek could heal.  After three days of it still looking swollen, we ended up taking him back to the dentist to see if maybe he had an abscess around the newly filled tooth.  But the dentist looked and told us that his little cheek looked like "raw hamburger."  Ugh.  He must have really chewed it good.  He just needed more time to heal.  Finally after about two more days he was back to normal again.  What a little trooper that kid is! :)
