Over the years we have gotten quite familiar with the various parks around the neighboring communities. We haven't really minded too much having to travel up to a half hour just to get to one. But our fair town is now only a few short days away from it's brand spanking-new park's "official" grand opening. Because the days before Thanksgiving last week were warm and beautiful, the boys, Grammy & Grandad, A.J. and I went the short 1.3 mile trip to "test drive" the new park. It rocks! Beautiful pavilion, giant grills, awesome walking/biking path, ball diamonds, splash pad, basketball court, small lake/fishing pier, and a wonderful playground (not big, but it has some unique playground equipment). In the last week we went there three times - once to have a picnic. December 4th is the park's official grand opening followed by an evening Christmas parade that will end at the park where hot cider & cocoa await (for a nominal price, so stuff your pockets with a few dollars), as well as a fire (managed by the fire department of course!) to make smores, etc. That's where we'll be Saturday!
