Remember this post? Okay then, let me proceed.
Late Sunday afternoon as I was beginning dinner prep, A.J. walked in to the kitchen. What did I think about doing a mini-remodel in our hot tub room (which is directly off of our bedroom), he asked. I looked up at him trying to discern whether or not he was serious. He had that familiar sheepish grin and asked, "What?!" - you know, kind of guilty like. His proposal was that he permanently remove our hot tub since we hadn't used it in a long time anyway, and make the room a sort of "sun room." His commitment was to have it completed in approximately three days which sounded a heck of a lot more promising than the never-ending bathroom project (which we are still fine tuning even now). I've always loved the rustic look of the hot tub room with it's brick and redwood walls and ceiling, and the abundance of windows overlooking the golf course fairway...and what can I say, I'm a sucker for a lanky handyman. So, he began work almost immediately.
After a couple hours of work that very evening, the hot tub had been removed leaving an open pit. He followed up by putting insulation under the flooring and then covering it, as well as replacing the bare part of the wall where the hot tub was with more redwood. Today it looks like the room will be finished up. It looks strange no longer seeing the hot tub in the room, but I love the space that the "new" room will provide. We were talking last night about what to call our room as it has previously just been referred to as the "hot tub room" or the "jacuzzi room." Our intention is for it to be a relaxing, quiet spot for reading, listening to some quiet music, kicking back and watching the sun set in the evening - that sort of thing. Hmmm. I'll let you know what we decide. These are important decisions afterall. :)
After school and homework yesterday, Alex put on his play clothes and a few other miscellaneous items so he could help out A.J. He has got quite the fashion sense, yes? :) Sort of a cross between Mork from Ork and Tim "the tool man" Taylor!
And for no other reason than the fact that he is so darn cute, I'm posting a picture of Ace from last week while he was outside golfing and playing in the yard!

What about calling it "the cubby"...implies children, happiness, organization, sweet spot...sounds like a lovely place to read, have quiet time, share joy...you could put a cute little sign on the door.
I would love to see a picture of your new room! Sarah has a similar clothing sense by the way...at 12 this is a bit disconcerting!
