Release...

When Alex "graduated" from kindergarten, we got him the Live Butterfly Garden for a little gift.  He had been seeing advertisements for it and had been begging for it for weeks.  He was pretty thrilled.  We got ours at Target and then had to send in our request for the caterpillars.  Sounds weird doesn't it? A week later we received our caterpillars via post, right in our mailbox.  I opened the box and there were five caterpillars sealed in a plastic container which had already been filled with all the food they would need.  The instructions showed the various stages we would be observing for the next two and a half or so weeks. Plain & simple.  Just like clockwork it happened, exactly as we were told.
Yesterday morning the last of the butterflies emerged, so last night we decided to release them outside.  It was pretty cool - I could almost hear the strains of "Born Free" as each of the butterflies flew away! :)
The looks of surprise as one of the butterflies takes off cracks me up.  I love it.
