Wild Kingdom...

The cool thing about going to the zoo in the fall is that you get to see all the animals that seem to go in to hiding during the Texas summer heat. Yesterday Alex and I met some friends at the zoo on a gorgeous albeit chilly Tuesday. It was like visiting the same zoo but with a lot of new animals. The cheetah was out, as were the red wolves. It was a lot of fun and comfortable to boot! No sweating and yearning for the nearest air conditioned building.

The train was a must. I can't tell you how many references to Dinosaur Train and all things dinosaur we heard!

Alex & Heston got up close and personal with the black bear in Texas Wild. The bear crawled all the way in to the log tunnel as far as it could, coming within no more than two feet of the boys. It was a little freaky and exciting at the same time! In our eight years of going to the zoo, we've never seen the bears go in that tunnel, so that was a real thrill!

I've never seen the bear anywhere near the tunnel. Very cool that you were able to see it.
