What Have We Gotten Ourselves Into...

This weekend is the first weekend we have had completely free.  Since the start of spring we have spent a good portion of every Saturday taking the big kid to golf lessons.  It always was a minimum of four hours which really bit in to our free day.  Not that we mind at all, but now that there is a short break before summer session starts up A.J. decided to seize the day and do a quick weekend backyard project.  His plan? To lift up the lower tier of the deck so that the patio is exposed, and then we want to do a nice concrete stain to coordinate with the remainder of the deck.  Why? A.J. has been talking about doing it for over a year, and now that we've started to see some age on that part of the deck he thought this would be a good time to just do it...

The deck before work begins.  I love that deck - A.J. has promised me the end result of his project will look as good.  That's not Mork from Ork, that's Alex.  He need those suspenders to hold up his hefty tool belt! :)

Gulp...

So while all that deconstruction was going on, the boys spent about four hours (!!) playing on the water slide.  They were sliding, throwing soaker balls at each other, playing tag...It was awesome hearing their shrieks and giggles while they played - brotherhood at it's finest.

By evening, we were down to this...

Something tells me this is going to be more like a two-weekend project...
