There is something about our giant tree that beckons the boys. They love climbing it, spying on golfers in it, playing "army" or bug hunters. But they're still a bit on the short side and, as a result, have had to take out our little step stool every time they want to venture up on to it's widespread limbs. This is the perfect tree-climbing tree - ample sitting space and lots of big branches to venture further up the tree as courage grows. This weekend A.J. made them a "ladder" and attached it to the tree, and it has made it really easy for them to climb up it in a jif. It's opened up a whole new play world for them. They spent the majority of Saturday playing in the tree (do I foresee a tree house eventually?), and Sunday after church the boys even had a picnic lunch in the tree followed by hours playing there. I love when kids truly connect with nature and discover they don't always need something to entertain them. Our great outdoors provides them with endless opportunities for imaginative play, exploration and discovery - all boredom free!
Picnic lunch in the great tree!
