Date Night!

Are you wondering if my toy bin from the previous post was effective? Well, for our first go at it, it was.  Alex was most unhappy about it initially and really complained about the "horrible" chores (that really were not horrible at all, and quite simple). It took about four days - a few toys here, a few toys there; but yesterday he finally got the remaining items taken care of.  The bin is still ready to go again if needed.  I'm hopeful...

Friday night the boys were scheduled to go to A.J.'s parents to spend the night.  They'd been looking forward to it for several days. Every hour on the hour from noon on they were asking me "How long before Nanny and Grampy come?" It was a long wait since they weren't coming until around 4:00! Around 3:30 A.J. called me and told me to pack an overnight bag because we were going to be heading out for a date after the boys left. When he got home we threw our things in our bags and headed in to Fort Worth.  My romantic husband had gotten us a beautiful room at one of the lovely hotels in the city.  I love being in the city, and our view was perfection.  So we enjoyed a great evening out on the town.  We'd forgotten what it was like to eat dinner around 7:00...followed by to-die-for gelato at Paciugo at 9:00 and a little shopping afterwards.  There was a time nine or so years ago when that was not an uncommon occurrence.  Don't think I'm complaining about how things are now - I love our life now and wouldn't trade it for anything.  But it is nice every now and then to get away and have some fun like in the "old days." :)
