The Fourth...

My mom and dad rolled in from Minnesota a few days before our July festivities began.  It's the first time we've been able to spend July 4th together since I was pregnant with Alex eight years ago.  We were thrilled they were here with us and could stay the rest of the week as well.

Joshua, TX, did an awesome job celebrating Independence Day.  While there are a few areas in the festivities that need some polish, I think I now prefer sticking around town over going to one of the bigger neighboring towns for their parties.

It was the third year the boys participated in the children's parade.  Last year we decorated our good ole JD gator and it was quite an attraction.  This year we went back to the basics and just decorated bikes.  The boys always look forward to being in the parade but when parade time comes they are both all business and look quite serious...

After the parade, Vocal Trash took to the stage for the next hour and a half.  They were so awesome.  Super high energy and fabulous music - all in 100+ temperatures no less.   Loads of kids piled down on to the field to "dance" and watch up close.  The boys were a little reluctant at first but about half way through the concert they dragged A.J. and I down on to the field as well...
The kids "dancing" consisted of a lot of running, chasing and rolling around on the ground doing somersaults and attempting cart wheels...
Finally we all gathered back in the stadium stands with A.J.'s parents and mine, ready for the fireworks to begin...
Happy July 4th!
