Let's Potty...

After begging, pleading, bargaining and trying every way possible to entice Alex to use the potty to no avail, potty training has had me downright terrified. People would always suggest helpful ideas - have you tried rewarding him with candy? Stickers? It almost felt like they thought I was uneducated about getting a kid to go pee on the potty. Not only had I bribed Alex with candy, going to restaurants, special time with Mommy & Daddy, a potty celebration party, etc, I also offered him [literally] any toy in Target that he wanted. Any toy! Nothing worked. He wouldn't sit on the potty, he wouldn't wear pull-ups or big boy underwear. It was a true nightmare. Finally at the age of 4 1/2 he was officially potty-trained. You know why? Because we had to make him do it. A.J. and I felt like we were going in to battle. In spite of the drama it was over and done with in pretty much one day - no nighttime problems, nothing. A.J. and I were greatly relieved. Then Ayson was approaching his two year birthday in September. I was getting nervous just thinking back to what our first potty training experience was like. But A.J. and I are putting on a brave face. :) I got Ayson a potty seat yesterday - Lightning McQueen, race car red, handles on the sides - swweeeet! He was very excited about it and wanted to try it out almost right away. No, he has not gone yet. But we're getting him used to the idea and trying to get him on the potty during his typical potty times. Currently he just enjoys grabbing toilet paper, wadding it up and then throwing it in the potty. But remember, he did only just turn two! At least he likes sitting on it. And I am certain of one thing - he will be potty trained before he is four and a half!!

Cason has been peeing on the potty for 8 months now and I have still not potty trained him yet. I'm so bad to have not committed to the process. He goes when I put him on there but never tells me he needs to go. I'm not sure what to do next, maybe just put him on the potty more times every day?

Good luck!
