Camp Carter Field Trip...

Friday we had our first official field trip with the boys' school in Fort Worth. We all gathered at Camp Carter YMCA. Our goal? Climb "Fossil Hill" to find and identify fossils, insects and leaves (and to collect leaves as well).

There must have been close to 60 kids along with their parents. We were supposed to divide up in to groups of four or five, but by the time we included siblings our little group was almost double that. Boy oh boy did the kids have fun.

Prior to launching the kids off on their adventure, their teacher explained what they would be doing and distributed leaf collection bags, brushes and digging tools for fossils, etc.
The kids were using some old-fashioned team work trying to dig up a really big ammonite fossil.

Our group of kiddos posing after rolling a giant rock up a steep hill to where the rest of us were. There were victory cries all around after that feat! :) Such a fun place to visit and such a fantastic group of friends the boys have!

One of the little girls in that top photo was in Cason's zoo preschool class last year.
