Ayson Does The Zoo...

Saturday after Alex's golf lesson and a quick bite to eat we went to the zoo as part of Ayson's birthday, and met his birth mom and a few of her family members there.  We could not have asked for more amazing weather (I can't even remember the last time in September we made a visit to the zoo and weren't sweating like crazy!).  Seriously.  It was amazing.  

We had a fabulous time with Candice and her sister Crystal, and never lacked in our conversation.  No awkwardness. As a matter of fact, we were there until the zoo closed and were among the last to leave the parking lot.  That was five hours together with our birth mom! I love our relationship with her as well as her family.  Five years ago I never would've have imagined we'd have this sort of relationship! We've even been able to reminisce about our first meeting, our time at the hospital when Ayson was born, etc. Five years ago we would've been way too anxious to discuss anything that could be that potentially sensitive. But here we are. We genuinely like them so much and always look forward to our next get together with them. It's a total "God thing" that we have the relationship we do with them and it is so awesome that Ayson will grow up knowing that, without a doubt, he is loved by them.  We're blessed.  All of us.
