Saturday afternoon we gathered up our family of four and headed to a local spot for Alex's Cub Scout Pack Pinewood Derby. You may recall two weeks ago he won the district wide Pinewood for his Wolf group but then lost in the finals. A.J. and I thought perhaps he just got lucky with the district win. So on our drive, A.J. coached Alex on being a good and gracious sport in preparation that he might not have the same level of good fortune as before. You know, the whole "winning isn't everything" idea. We headed in to the gym where the long wood race track was set up, got his car inspected/weighed, and then we waited for his turn. Much to our surprise, his car won each race to earn him first place for his den. Later his little car was lined up with all of the winners from each den, and would you believe his car won that race too? We were laughing with surprise at his win. These Pinewood Derby races could become addictive!
