Our Current Season...

Our first three years of wedded bliss were all about us. Vacations - just the two of us. Hanging out with friends - just the two of us. Holidays - just the two of us. Life was good then. Easy then. In some ways, less stressful.

(pre-children, on our honeymoon in Colorado)

Our last six years have been about us - all of us - A.J., Erika, Alex & Ayson. Vacations - all of us, as long as it's within a five hours driving distance! Hanging out with friends - all of us, as long as we can be home by 9:00 p.m. at the latest to get the boys in bed. Holidays - all of us, but expanding the fun to include the munchkins. Life is good now. Stressful at times. But most of all, good.

(post-children, 9 years of marriage later - do we look tired and older??)

Our Valentine's Day was not your typical day or evening of romance. But it was packed with love. Cards and a sweet gift from the boys. Goodies from my love - and goodies for him. Heart-shaped sandwiches for the kidlets for lunch, followed by an afternoon movie while snuggled up on the couch with Alex. And a delightful Malbec/Merlot in trendy new stemware for my man and I later in the evening. In this current season in our lives, I am learning to appreciate simplicity, the uncomplicated, and the understated. Life is good.

Your Valentine's was better than mine. We had a sick kid and I stayed home and did laundry while Phillip went and had to tend to his Dad. Now that's romance.
