Let's Celebrate...Kindergarten Style!

If you're a kid who is born in the summer you sort of get a raw deal. Sort of like all of the poor kids with Christmas birthdays. I mean you don't have the fun of getting to celebrate your birthday at school, passing out cupcakes or assorted goodies to your pals while they sing the birthday song to you...good times. Well, that is not an issue at Alex's school where they actually celebrate "1/2 birthdays!" Alex's half birthday was celebrated at school yesterday. He was overjoyed to be the center of attention and celebrated! In all seriousness, it really is neat what they do at his school. In chapel each birthday child receives a birthday blessing. The children also donate a book that will have a nameplate with their name & the occasion for the donation, to be given to the school's expanding library. If that wasn't cool enough, it gets even better if you happen to have kindergarten in Mrs. Matejka's class:

You're welcomed in the morning with a birthday greeting & a giant blow-up birthday cake...

You get a birthday necklace and sticker as well as a gift bag from his teacher...

Yummy cupcakes to hand out to friends...

You get to stand on a chair in the middle of the room while Mrs. Matejka & the class dance like crazy nuts around you...

It's fun to be celebrated and made to feel special!

Lucky Alex! That is really a neat idea. I know I would have loved that. I'd get to celebrate in Sept and again in March! Or maybe that's not the way it works? Anyway, Happy 6 1/2 birthday Alex.
Love you,
Grammy
